Our Roots Run Deep
At Texas Turnkey Homesteads, we bring generations of Texas know-how and hands-on experience to help you build the perfect homestead. As multi-generation Texans, lifetime friends, and military veterans, we understand the land, the lifestyle, and the hard work that goes into self-sufficient living. With backgrounds in land development, farm and ranch building, and machinery operation, we know how to get the job done right—efficiently and with quality craftsmanship.
Our mission is to make the transition from city living to homesteading accessible, stress-free, and built to last. Whether you’re starting from raw land or upgrading your current setup, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
Texas land, Texas values, Texan-built—Helping Texas families get back to their roots, one homestead at a time.

The Folks Behind the Fenceposts
David Fenira- Husband, Father, Operator, Founder
The Homestead Act of 1862 encouraged families to head west, chasing the promise of land and a better life. Most took that leap of faith for a chance at true freedom.
It wasn’t easy, but families stuck together. They built homes from the ground up, raised children to be purposeful helpers, tended the land that provided for them, and passed down more than just dirt. They passed down pride, purpose, and a way of life rooted in family, self-reliance, and love for the land.
Each generation carried that torch- turning the land into thriving homesteads, generational wealth, and close-knit communities. It was a time when family came first, when neighbors looked out for each other, and when each member had a strong sense of belonging.
The Act was repealed in 1976, and so began the slow erosion of the family unit along with everything that came before.
Concrete replaced soil. Screens replaced conversation. We live in a world where our food, water, shelter, money, and time are constantly devalued. A world where the family unit is encouraged to drift apart. It's a vicious cycle - and the complete opposite of how got here.
Young families are waking up to this realization and looking for solutions. Unfortunately we don't have the Homestead Act, but with the shift to remote work, the old lifestyle has become more accessible than ever. There's a shift toward blending the old with the new.
As a father I often think about the legacy I'm leaving behind for my boys. Am I instilling the right values, the right work ethic, and the foundational pieces they’ll need when I’m gone? I dream of working alongside them, watching them grow into capable husbands and fathers—men who pass on these same lessons to their children.
For me, Texas Turnkey Homesteads is more than a business. It’s a mission to bring value-based focus back to what truly matters: strong families and strong communities. We’re here to help as many families as we can—especially those who just need a helping hand to get started.
Cody Rice- Husband, Father, Operator, Owner
I'm a proud husband to my amazing wife and a dad to three awesome kids who seem to be growing faster than I can keep up with. I spent 12 years in the Navy, and before that, I was running heavy equipment out in the wide-open spaces of West Texas — it was in these experiences that I learned the value of a hard days work and the rewards that come from keeping your nose to the grindstone.
As a seventh-generation Texan, born in Monahans and raised in Coleman, the land has always meant something more to me. I learned early on that land isn’t just property — it’s where your roots take hold and where values are passed down. Where your family works side by side towards a common purpose.
That’s what inspired Texas Turnkey Homesteads. It’s a passion project turned purpose: helping families build their own slice of heaven out in the Texas Hill Country. We're here to make the dream of homesteading not just possible—but simple, fulfilling, and fully livable from day one.
If you’re ready to trade the city noise for the sound of the wind through the trees and kids playing in the dirt, we’d love to help you get started
Colter Mendez- Operator, Owner
I've been barefoot on family land since I was in diapers. While most kids were getting licensed to drive, I was building and creating with 2 ton tractors. Barns, arenas, pens, chicken coops, gardens, ponds, roads, and fences. I take pride in my craft and I understand just how much blood sweat and tears goes into building and maintaining the perfect family homestead.
A penny for your thoughts:
In the beginning, Adam & Eve were tasked with tending to the garden that sustained them. My homestead is the garden that I tend to, so that it sustains me and my family. A place for things to grow & thrive.
How can we help you grow a garden of your own?
